DECARBONISATION INVESTMENT PLAN FOR PUBLIC BUILDINGS
In Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) we developed decarbonisation targets andinvestment roadmap for 360 publicbuildings: schools, kindergartens, andhospitals. Our team identified cost-effective energysaving solutionsand developed investmentplan for their implementation, whichreceived 17 mln USD in grant support from theGreen Climate Fund. Thestarting point for building decarbonisation is theimplementationof Energy Management System, which has been rolled out across allpublic buildings in BiH
LOW-CARBON TOURISM OFFER
Tourism is Georgia’s most dynamic and rapidly growing economic sector and, consequently, the source of GHG emissions. At the request of the Ministry of Environment, AvantGarde Group analysed the potential for carbon emission reduction in Georgia’s hotels and resorts and developed sectoral decarbonisation roadmap, along with proposal for marketing campaign to promote count ry’s low - carbon tourism offer. Proposed solutions, such as implementation of energy efficiency measures in heat and hot water supply, cooling and lighting, as well as renewable energy systems, results in 25% reduction in operational emissions by 2030
NET ZERO CARBON PATHWAY FOR COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Our team carried out GHG emission calculation for international ICT company with over 20,000 clients in 10 countries. AG developed unique methodology for calculating carbon footprint of ICT softw are’s end - users, one of the emissions hotspots for ICT companies. TO support, company’s net zero carbon objectives, we designed a decarbonisation roadmap which covers all material sources of GHG emissions: office operations, strategic suppliers, business t ravel and employee commuting, as well as emission from product use
FINANCING GREEN SMES IN MONTENEGRO
AvantGarde experts designed 700,000 USD programme financed by the Global Environmental Facility to support green businesses in Montenegro . Under this programme Investment Development Fund offer ed favorable financing terms for SMEs from agriculture, energy, furniture production and catering sectors to reduce their emissions via install ation of solar PV systems . Green Business Incubator has been set - up to provide green business development services to SMEs and start - ups
BANK’S CARBON FOOTPRINT: FINANCED EMISSIONS
Our team has been engaged by an EU Bank to calculate emissions from Scope 1, 2 and 3, including Category 15, financed emissions, following international methodology of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) , which accounts for over 90% of the bank s’ emissions . We helped client identify their emission hotspots – 15 out of 3,000 customers who contribute to over 70% of the emissions in each asset category and benchmark their emissions against competitors
NET ZERO CARBON PLAN FOR VEHICLES FLEET
Our team supported municipal utility company in designing decarbonisation roadmap for its Scope 1 emissions, including vehicles. It showed that gradual replacement of company’s car fleet with electric vehicles (EV) alongside installation of solar PV - based charging infrastructure is technically feasible and economically viable with investment return in up to 5 years
FINANCING E-MOBILITY IN BHUTAN
AvantGarde worked in Bhutan to design 3mln USD financing scheme to stimulate uptake of e-mobility in Bhutan. We identified feasible solutions for e-mobility, including charging infrastructure and analysed total cost of ownership of electric vehicles (EVs)compared to the traditional ones. The programme enables 300 taxi drivers to switch from traditional cars to EV, saving money and reducing GHG emissions
PROTECTING EXISTING AND GROWING NEW FORESTS
In Georgia, we helped design a sustainable forest management project in line with national climate commitments (NDCs) which covers 270,000 hectares of natural forests. Our task was to identify feasible solutions to reduce forest degradation and demand for fuelwood from rural households. Focusing on energy efficiency improvement measures in residential buildings such opportunities were identified and financing secured from a range of public and private sector partners, including the Governments of Germany, Georgia, Switzerland, and Sweden, Green Climate Fund, private companies and commercial banks
EU TAXONOMY APPLICATION IN CZECHIA AND LATVIA
Our experts jointly with local partners assessed the impact of applying the technical screening criteria of the EU Taxonomy of Sustainable Activities on the investment flows to district heating companies in Czechia and the wood processing industry of Latvia. EU Taxonomy - compliant investment plans have been prepared for both sectors, including recommendations on fundraising strategy, use of EU funds and sustainable finance
FINANCING CLEAN COOK STOVES IN KENYA AND SENEGAL
The use of fuelwood for cooking is a major source of deforestation in sub - Saharan Africa. Our experts supported the Energising Development (EnDev) in designing ambitious market transformation programme for climate-friendly cooking in Kenya and Africa. The programme helped close to 4 mln people to get access to climate-friendly cooking devices and reduced 1 mln tCO2 in GHG emission
